Learn Russian in Russia

When people speak of a Russian soul, they often think of a land big as a continent, of a melancholic atmosphere that only grave hymns can accompany. That kind of spirit is present in Saint Petersburg’s taverns, where story tellers recite verses from past centuries, or in Moscow’s subway, where huge stations pass as a repeated refrain. But Russia is something else: it is a welcoming land for people who want to wake up in a place that metamorphoses every day. This country moves fast. Yesterday’s Moscow is very different from tomorrow’s. Even if the legacies of the Tsarist Empire and the Soviets are often visible, the city has experienced huge development over the past 15 years and has the aim of becoming a breath of fresh air in Eastern Europe. Among the Orthodox church domes and gigantic Luna parks, what makes the city special is its people: their capacity to overcome everyday problems, to lend a hand to neighbours and strangers alike, and to enjoy a nightlife of loud music and spicy dinners. In order to capture Russia’s magnitude, you will have to take the train and spend at least a night in its carriages drinking tea and playing chess. As for tradition, the 18th century’s heritage goes beyond palaces and museums to be present in today’s poetic language.
